The earthquake emergency news flash service "MJ@lert" provided by JFE Systems, Inc.
(President and CEO: Makoto Iwahashi, Head office: Sumida-ku, Tokyo - hereinafter referred
to as 'our company') is now on permanent exhibition at the Advanced Technology Exhibition
Hall @ TEPIA, which was reopened on Friday, April 11.
The earthquake emergency news flash service "MJ@lert" is a system to estimate and notify
people concerning the epicenter, magnitude, intensity scale at various places, arrival time to
the current location, etc in the event of an earthquake based on the seismic wave information
obtained from dedicated seismometers installed at various places by the Meteorological
Agency at those observation points that are close to the epicenter.

The Machine Industry Memorial Foundation made changes, etc. to the way items had been
exhibited at the old "TEPIA Plaza" and began to make it open to the public as the Advanced
Technology Exhibition Hall @ TEPIA. Since 1989, the TEPIA Plaza had been hosting
exhibitions that focus on the machinery and information industry with a specific theme that
varied from year to year. However, from this year on, they decided to change the exhibition
format in that they have selected some main areas of advanced technology to display a
permanent exhibition of recent products and services in these areas.
The exhibition consists of five areas, namely "Communications in Our Lives", "Health and
Medical Care", "Cities and Mobility", "The Environment and Energy/Resources" and
"Materials and Devices". Our company's earthquake emergency news flash service
"MJ@lert" is displayed as one of the cutting-edge technologies related to
"earthquake-resistance/seismic isolation/vibration control" in the area of "Cities and Mobility."
As the earthquake emergency news flash service "MJ@lert" was chosen as a part of the
permanent exhibition at the Advanced Technology Exhibition Hall @ TEPIA, we would like
to take this opportunity to further extend our efforts in the area of disaster prevention
technologies so that we can make a contribution to a society that is a safer and more
comfortable place to live.
