JFE Systems, Inc.

"FiBridge II" Linux Version, an Electronic Form System from JFE Systems
Supports HA Clustering Software, Minimizing System Downtime -Enhanced Performance Support for Mission-Critical Work-

JFE Systems, Inc. (President and CEO: Makoto Iwahashi, Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as 'JFE Systems'), in cooperation with 10art-ni Corporation (President and CEO: Nobuo Kita, Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as '10art-ni') and Hewlett-Packard Japan, Ltd. (President and CEO: Shingo Oda, Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as 'HP Japan'), has developed a system to support HA clustering software. When a machine installed with HA cluster software stops in a dual module system, the other machine can detect the status and automatically restore service to minimize system downtime.

JFE Systems releases FiBridge II Linux version, a dual-module electronic form system, in December 2005.

FiBridge II Linux version runs with 10art-ni's SteelEye LifeKeeper for medium-sized enterprises and HP Japan's HP Serviceguard for Linux for large-sized enterprises, allowing choices based on system scale and purpose.

In recent years, more and more customers are looking to introduce company-wide electronic forms after the establishment of the personal information protection law. The current version reduces downtime to maintain work and enables all-day, year-round operation for work involving searches*1 for wanted data in a form that has existed for several years in an electronic form system, or mission-critical work terminating digitizing*2 documents produced daily.

1. Background and service

Companies, such as financial institutions whose customer data is a resource, have been considering the introduction of an electronic form system to strengthen the protection of personal information, prevent information leakage, and reduce paper usage for environmental conservation. It has been thus required to balance between low cost and stable operation by, for example, employing cost-effective Linux or adopting "downtime minimization" as specific requests.

To respond to requests, JFE Systems developed FiBridge II Linux version combined with two major HA clustering software, SteelEye LifeKeeper and HP Serviceguard for Linux, which have demonstrated a solid performance on Linux OS. For many customers of medium to large sized enterprises, the combination provides the basis of a reasonable, stable electronic form system that can be used securely on a company-wide scale and is applicable to mission-critical environments.
2.Price and sales target

Sales price is principally determined by individual cases. As a rough estimate, the sales model software of a HA cluster set of FiBridge II Linux version costs about 7 million yen. The sales target is 30 sets in two years.

3. Advantages of introducing the system
The system minimizes system downtime and establishes the basis of a high-availability electronic form system that allows customers to use the system comfortably at any time. To be more specific, the system has the following advantages:
(1) Reduced printing and shipping costs due to paperless operation, and enhanced@efficiency in various areas, from individual departments to the company as a whole.
(2) Minimized downtime and a reduced system management load due to integrated form management.
