Kawatetsu Information Systems Ltd. (President and CEO: Makoto Iwahashi, Head office: Koto-ku, Tokyo - hereinafter referred to as 'our Company') will introduce around 350 units of NTT DoCoMo's wireless LAN-compatible FOMA(R) "N900iL". We intend to achieve a flexible working style at headquarters, without the restrictions of the interior layout.
Our Company compared and considered many communication systems to decide which would be most suitable for our new headquarters. We needed a highly reliable system integrator that would be ready to use on December 1, when our official business name changes and our headquarters move to a new site. As a result, we have decided to introduce PASSAGE DUPLETM of NTT DoCoMo. Its state-of-the-art technology combines strength in both voice and data communications. We started their operation today, November 22, and will completely convert the conventional phone system to PASSAGE DUPLETM from November 29.
The introduction of this system and its operation will allow us to widely develop our network business.
1. Operation and advantages of the new system
- 350 units of N900iL will be provided to our staff and the staff of our business partners.
- Within headquarters they will use the units as extension lines using wireless LAN, and outside headquarters, use them as FOMA cell phones.
- The introduction of SIP server, wireless LAN, and FOMA terminals will allow us to cut our expenditure during our office move.
- The introduction of wireless LAN allows us to achieve a flexible working style free from the restrictions of the interior layout at our headquarters.
- The wireless LAN has a strong security foundation using TKIP: encryption protocol and IEEE 802.1X: authentication.
- The TV phone function and i appli(R) service of FOMA will allow us to collect information and achieve better communication.
2. Future plans
We have plans to expand the functions of our system as follows:
- Connecting to a new IP telephone network with JFE Steel Corporation as a main operator in 2005.
- Fusion of data communication network.
